Internships
You are a college or university student who is looking for a challenging internship. Preferably with a leading and involved employer that is open to your ideas and where you are given the space to develop your skills and abilities in a pleasant and informal atmosphere. Welcome to Rabobank! We are committed to ensuring that your internship will be a beneficial phase of your education. A period that will give you the opportunity to put the theoretical knowledge you have gained to the test in practice. At Rabobank your internship will be all about learning and discovering as much as possible.
Profile
You are completing the final stage of a college or university course (Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s Degree). You are customer- and result-focused, can work well as part of a team and have a healthy dose of ambition. If you are convinced that you meet these criteria, we are pleased to invite you to apply for a shadow, research or graduation internship at Rabobank.
Select your internship
Rabobank offers three types of internships: a ‘shadow’ internship, a ‘research’ internship and a ‘graduation’ internship. A shadow internship means you will work as part of a department. In a research internship, you will work out a research question or theme and write a report on your findings. And if you are graduating, you will write a thesis that has clear added value for Rabobank and that you will defend at your educational institution.
Please note this information only applies in The Netherlands.
Mentoring
Internship mentor
The internship mentor in your department will have primary responsibility for providing you with guidance and assistance throughout your internship. He or she will arrange a workstation for you, organise access to the buildings and computer networks and serve as your first contact person. You will meet with him or her regularly to discuss your progress and the related schedule. At the end of the internship, you and your internship mentor will evaluate your internship period together.
Internship Desk
The Internship Desk serves Rabobank Nederland and Rabobank International. The Internship Desk is responsible for the recruitment, initial selection and placement of interns. The Desk also organises an internship meeting every quarter for all the interns working with Rabobank Nederland and Rabobank International. This meeting provides a forum for exchanging ideas and for speaking with Rabobank recruiters regarding the opportunities for working at Rabobank.
Application
Specific and open applications
You can apply for a specific internship that is available within Rabobank Nederland, Rabobank International, the local member Rabobanks, Robeco and De Lage Landen. These internships are listed in our vacancy database. You can also send an ‘open’ application. In both cases we require you to send a detailed application letter explaining why you want to follow an internship within our organisation. Please note that your application will not be processed if it is not accompanied by this letter. In the case of an open application, you will need to inform us when you would like to complete an internship, the type of project you have in mind and why.
Selection
If we select you as a candidate for an internship, we will invite you for an interview with the manager of the department. The manager will want to find out more about who you are, what you are studying, what you are good at and what your expectations are.
Contract
If the meeting with the department manager is positive, you will receive an internship contract on the condition that you have a positive screening result. This is because Rabobank assesses the trustworthiness of all new employees and interns on the basis of the 'Rabobank Screening Regulation'.
